“Conceited little bitches” being watched by little kids LOL   Leave a comment

This is actually inspired by my friend, Rainne’s Facebook status.

Rainne Leocadio

“Sorry but I really don’t get the show “Munting Heredera”. Where do you even find children who are more obssessed with getting their”mana” instead of playing?”

So what exactly is the story behind “Munting Heredera” and why is it something that kids shouldn’t really be watching? Let’s see…

According to good old Wikipedia (don’t you just love wikipedia?!haha)..

Munting Heredera (lit. Little Heiress) is a family oriented Philippine drama created and developed by Maryo J. delos Reyes for GMA Network. Playing the lead role of Doña Anastacia, a rich widow in search of her “munting heredera”, is no less than multi-award winning actress and one of the original Queens of Philippine cinema, Ms. Gloria Romero, who now makes her television debut with the said network.[1] The show premiered on May 9 on GMA Network and on May 11, 2011 on GMA Pinoy TV.

“Doña Anastacia, a rich widowed businesswoman and a loving grandmother is in search for her rightful heiress, but 3 young girls Jennifer, Michelle and Calila, born and grew up in different ways and has each distinct story of her own, claims to be the one Doña Anastacia is looking for. But in the end, fate will lead the true heiress to where she truly belongs, and claim what is rightfully hers.”

Seriously?! There’s nothing family oriented about the whole show. All I’m saying is that networks should be more responsible with the kinds of programs that they show. Because like it or not, children will be watching. Don’t claim to be “Family-oriented”. Be Family – Oriented.

Now, I don’t regularly watch this show but from what I have read, these 3 little girls are only concerned about the inheritance. And they’ll do whatever it takes to be deemed as “the rightful heiress”.  Just the thought of little kids lying to get an inheritance is just plain wrong. Roles like these are more suitable for adults. Yes, I know that it’s fictional and yes, it’s a good story but I wish that networks and writers would be more aware of what they write and show to the public. People should be aware of how vulnerable kids are. Like what my friend Rainne said, “Their minds are like sponges.” Why? because kids absorb everything they see and hear. They say that kids learn through example.  Kids learn from other kids as well.  Especially through child actors and actresses. Normal kids look up to these child actors and actresses. They idolize them . And if they see little children acting like conceited little bitches bitches on TV, even if it was just pretend, what would they think? Again, yes, it is fictional but would you really expect a little kid to understand the difference between fiction and reality? Yes, there is a “Parental Guidance” thing in the TV screen but not everyone watches TV with a responsible adult who can explain to kids that this isn’t how a child should act. It’s the responsibility of a parent or a guardian to monitor what a child is watching but it is also the responsibility of TV Network to ensure that the programs that they show to the general public are at least “kid-friendly”. Now I know that there’s a valuable lesson at the end of every story but I really do hope that the values don’t just appear at the end of a story.
